This workshop aims to advance evidence-based practice in women’s bladder self-care by introducing novel assessment frameworks and management resources. Participants will evaluate a new conceptual framework and questionnaire designed to characterize the diversity of self-management practices, and identify clinical strategies for using evidence-based tools to promote self-care (e.g., continence containment products). Through facilitated discussion and peer-solicited insights, the session will promote collaboration on strategies to mitigate lower urinary tract symptoms and prevent infections. These objectives will inform the design of future self-care interventions and longitudinal studies to improve long-term female bladder health outcomes.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize the diversity of bladder self-care practices used by women to maintain bladder health and prevent and treat bladder symptoms.
  • Describe how the novel Women’s Bladder Self-care Practices Framework and Questionnaire can inform clinical practice and advance future research.
  • Identify strategies for promoting effective bladder self-care practices in clinical and community-based settings.
